“Lermontov”, Docudrama Produced by Star Media and Babich Design Awarded as Outstanding Docudrama  at Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards International Festival (Cannes, France)

Awarding the winners of the International Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards Film Festival was held at the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Palm Beach Hotel, Cannes, France, on October 13 – on the eve of the opening of the MIPCOM International Film Market,

Docudrama "Lermontov" was awarded Silver Dolphin in the nomination “Documentary”. Star Media participated in this competition for the first time and immediately received one of the highest awards and the recognition of the international professional community.

And on October 16, 2016, the world premiere of Star Media’s “Mata Hari", a Russian-Ukrainian project, was held with great success in the same city, at the Palais des Festivals.

Also, "Lermontov" participated at the Avanca Film Festival, Portugal, in 2015, and won the World Premiere Television Prize in the category "International Competition - Television"; and in April 2016 - Platinum Remy in the category "Documentary" at the 49th  WorldFest-Houston,  International Independent Film Festival based in Houston, Texas (USA).

Annotation

Mikhail Lermontov (1814-1841) was one of Russia’s greatest poets and writers in the history of the world literature. His works were always timely and relevant, enjoying vast popularity especially among young people. Lermontov died at the age of 27, fighting a duel under strange circumstances. He grew up without parents, had two serious love affairs, was always surrounded by good friends, went through war, but nevertheless remained lonely throughout his whole life. This movie gives an insightful look at how his personal life intertwined with the plots of his works. The poet’s reality is gradually transferred into the world of his own imagination, while the characters and events he describes provide answers to biographical mysteries of Lermontov’s fate.  The film commemorates the 200th anniversary of Mikhail Lermontov’s birth.
