EastSeries program of 10th Odessa International Film Festival accepting applications

EastSeries is a platform for presenting the best TV series projects from Central and Eastern Europe through public pitching. The program is organized by the Odessa International Film Festival with the support of Star Media, an international film production company (Ukraine), in collaboration with ScripTeast, a European training program for the best Eastern European scriptwriters, and in partnership with SERIES MANIA International Series Festival (France). In 2019, the competition will take place for the third time within the OIFF.

For participation in Public Pitching, 4 to 6 best television series titles with international potential, written by the best screenwriters of Eastern and Central European origin and/or projects owned by producer companies registered in one of Eastern and/or Central European countries, will be selected.

The details of selecting and submitting documents for participation in EastSeries can be found on the OIFF official website in the section “Film Industry Office”. The selection of projects will be made by the Pitching Selection Commission. The final list of the Pitching film projects will be published on the OIFF official website on June 15, and the selected projects will be presented to TV providers, distributors, and co-producers in July at the pitching of series projects to be carried out within the framework of the Film Industry Office professional platform. The best Pitching project will be chosen during the Odesa Film Festival by the jury that includes leading international experts: producers, representatives of film funds and other successful film industry companies from around the world. A complex of post-production services for the amount of EUR 20,000 from Star Media will be the prize. The winner will also receive a place at the Writers Campus held by SERIES MANIA.

Last year, 6 projects participated in the pitching. The winning project was “Family Archives” (Marjan Alcevski, Andamion Murataj, Croatia). In addition, “Smokey Eyes” (Małgorzata Pilacińska, Poland) was awarded a special award by SERIES MANIA – the team was invited to take part in the SERIES MANIA’s Writers Campus 2019.

ScripTeast is a European training program for the best screenwriters from Eastern Europe organized by the Independent Film Foundation (Poland). Since 2006, the program has developed 137 scripts, 43 of which have been implemented and shown at many international film festivals or are currently in production.

Star Media is an international film production company that specializes in the production and distribution of films for theatres and TV, telenovelas and series, television shows and docudramas that are successfully broadcasted on leading Ukrainian and foreign TV channels.
