“I am very glad to have the honor and privilege to bring the film based on the well-known novel by Boris Vasilyev “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” and remade by you to China. These novel and film are very popular in China and they have been exerting spiritual influence on several generations. Personally I was deeply moved by Boris Vasilyev’s story and its embodiment in your film. I believe that our common effort in distribution of your film in China is a new step and marker in strategic partnership between China and Russia in the field of culture, notably in cinematography. We will do our best to make your film a new artistic phenomenon of modern Russian art of filmmaking in China and carry out its distribution at the highest level so that your film “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” would become a real event in China“.

Vlad Ryashin (General Producer, founder of STAR MEDIA):

“Usually, lots of nuances occur when working with Chinese companies because China is a quite specific market.  It is very difficult to arrange the theatrical distribution even for a very commercially successful movie: approvals of a huge number of agencies are required, and, nevertheless, this does not give guarantees against the delay in release of the picture for an uncertain period of time. In our case, we have obtained the approval for the release of the movie very quickly due to the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture and Vladimir Medinsky personally. The movie’s versions subtitled in Chinese have been already prepared and CHINA FILM GROUP will also fully dub the projects in Chinese. The 4-episode version will be adapted for the television and the full-length one will be released in the theaters in the nearest future.”

Maria Grechishnikova (VP, Sales, Co-productions & Formats for STAR MEDIA):

“Historical dramas are very popular with the audiences in China. Moreover, the novel by Boris Vasilyev our movie is based on is included in the official school curriculum in the PRC. The Chinese viewers know very well the first theatrical version of the novel directed by Stanislav Rostotsky, and in 2005 CCTV produced a TV series based on this work. Before the meeting in Moscow, the representatives of the Chinese delegation viewed the new version of “The Dawns Here are Quiet” and became greatly interested in our project. We hope very much that Chinese viewers will like our movie and are looking forward to seeing the premiere this August-September”.
